I’m Sam Hill — a British photographer originally from the English Lake District, now based in Switzerland after more than a decade living and working in the European Alps. My work is film-first and story-led, built around a love for natural, honest aesthetics and a passion for working with people from all backgrounds in inspiring, wild places.
I specialise in analog photography because it slows things down and brings a level of truth you can’t fake — real moments, natural light, and images that feel lived-in rather than manufactured. Whether I’m documenting a long day in the mountains, creating portraits, or working on a brand campaign, I’m always looking for authenticity and a strong sense of place.
Alongside photography, I work as a filmmaker on small, narrative-driven outdoor projects, and I’m also an International Mountain Leader (IML), which allows me to work safely and intuitively in wild places. I write for independent publications, often exploring themes around landscape, identity, and life in the mountains.
